Program Description |
The purpose of the award is to support promising candidates during their mentored postdoctoral training under the guidance of outstanding faculty sponsors. The proposed research and training plan should enhance the individual’s potential to develop into a productive, independent researcher by providing strong mentorship, appropriate training and career development opportunities, and strong institutional support and commitment. The training plan should document the need for, and the anticipated value of, the proposed mentored training in relationship to the individual’s research career goals. The training plan should also facilitate the fellow’s transition to the next stage of his/her career. |

Eligibility |
Applicants must:
Individuals who already have a clinical dental degree and who are pursuing a Ph.D. or equivalent research doctoral degree at an accredited US graduate program are eligible to apply for the F32 award to support their Ph.D. training. The F32 provides support for research and related coursework and career development activities. No clinical activities are permitted for the duration of the F32 award. (Note that individuals in a dual degree D.D.S.- D.M.D./Ph.D. training program whose training has been supported by an F30 fellowship or T32 DSTP trainee appointment are not eligible to transition to the F32 to support completion of the Ph.D. degree, but must remain in a predoctoral status until both degrees are obtained). |

Award Benefits |
An annual stipend and partial tuition are provided. Additional funds are available for other training-related expenses. |
