Biographical Sketch
Dr. Dena Fischer is Director of the NIDCR Center for Clinical Research, Director of the Clinical Trials & Practice-Based Research Program, and Director of the Clinical Trials Program. She manages a broad clinical research portfolio, which focuses on clinical trials and patient-oriented and population-based studies aimed at improving dental, oral and craniofacial health. In addition, Dr. Fischer oversees the National Dental Practice-Based Research Network, which supports infrastructure and study-specific funding to conduct oral health research in dental practices, on topics of importance to practitioners and their patients."
Prior to joining NIDCR, Dr. Fischer was a faculty member in the department of Oral Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She earned her dental degree at the University of Michigan and completed post-doctoral training at the University of Washington, where she earned a Master of Science in Dentistry in Oral Medicine and a Master of Science in Epidemiology. She is board-certified in Oral Medicine.
