Event Description

NIDCR and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) invited attendees to a joint 75th anniversary symposium: Celebrating the Science That Unites Us.

In its 75 years of driving cutting-edge science, NIDCR has propelled research on topics such as the oral microbiome, pain, health disparities, oral cancer, tissue regeneration, craniofacial development and genetics, as well as the biology of saliva and the salivary gland.

NHLBI’s 75th anniversary celebrated numerous achievements and collaborations in heart, blood, lung, and sleep research, saving and improving millions of lives, and honoring the scientific pioneers who tirelessly worked to enhance public health and save lives.

Celebrating the Science That Unites Us showcased NIDCR’s and NHLBI's collective past successes. Attendees learned about the institutes' histories, notable accomplishments in heart, lung, blood, sleep, and oral health, and the scientific connections uniting the two institutions.
