Dr. Khavandgar's primary research focus lies in salivary gland pathology. Her work explores the complexities of salivary gland disorders, aiming to uncover the molecular aberrations, histopathological nuances, and clinical associations. This encompasses a comprehensive investigation of various conditions, including autoimmune disorders impacting salivary glands, infectious etiologies, and salivary gland neoplasms.
Biographical Sketch
Dr. Khavandgar holds a dental degree from Shahid Beheshti University and earned her Ph.D. in Oral Biology from McGill University. She completed her residency in oral and maxillofacial pathology at Texas A&M University, achieving fellowship status in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, as well as board certification from the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Following this, Dr. Khavandgar pursued one-year postdoctoral studies as a dental clinical research Fellow at NIDCR. Subsequently, she joined the Salivary Disorders Unit and the Sjögren’s Syndrome Clinic at NIDCR as a staff clinician, where she continues to contribute her expertise and research in the field.
