Our Goal
The Kerosuo lab aims to understand how the neural crest develops in the early ectoderm and what ultimately triggers its fate commitment. Characterization of the events at the molecular level by using both in vivo and in vitro animal and patient derived model systems will also elucidate defects in neural crest-derived cancers and other neurocristopathies that comprise a quarter of congenital birth defects.
