Special Grants Review Committee
Legislative Authority
The NIDCR Special Grants Review Committee (SGRC) is governed by the provisions of Public Law 92-463, as amended, which sets forth standards for the formation and use of advisory committees.
Purpose
The NIDCR Special Grants Review Committee was established to provide scientific merit review of applications for support of fellowship, career development, training programs, and applications submitted to the NIDCR Small Grant Program. The SGRC advises the institute on general policy and procedures as related to these grant programs. The committee considers and reviews long-range planning and broad program objectives as well as the progress of ongoing special programs.
Membership
The committee consists of 24 members, including the Chair. The members and Chair are selected by the NIH Director from authorities knowledgeable in the fields of dental, medical, and fundamental sciences, as well as in academic and public administration. Members are invited to serve four-year terms.
Meetings
SGRC meetings are normally held three times a year at the call of the Chair, with the advance approval of a government official who also approves the agenda.
