Scientific Review Branch
The Scientific Review Branch (SRB) is within the Division of Extramural Activities at NIDCR. The SRB administers study sections and review groups composed of members of the scientific community who are nationally and internationally established investigators of proven competence in their respective scientific specialties. These panels review and evaluate proposed research for which grant, contract, or cooperative agreement support is requested. This includes National Research Service Awards, Institutional Training Grants, Career Development Awards, Research Project Grants, Conference Grants, Cooperative Agreements for Clinical Trials and Biomarker Validation studies, Research and Development Contracts, Small Business Grants, Loan Repayment Program Awards, and others as needed.
SRB has one standing study section, the NIDCR Research Special Grants Review Committee, also known as DSR, that meets three times a year and consists of standing members. Other study sections are called NIDCR Special Emphasis Panels and meet on an ad hoc basis to review applications in response to NIDCR's Notices of Funding Opportunity Announcements, including Requests for Applications.
