Biographical Sketch
As the inaugural Chief Diversity and Cultural Climate Officer at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), Joy Postell is a visionary leader dedicated to fostering inclusion and driving transformative change. She is at the helm of developing strategic partnerships within NIDCR, across NIH, and with external organizations to shape a dynamic, model program for diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging (DEIA-B). Drawing on federal directives, industry best practices, and cutting-edge trends, Joy is spearheading initiatives that cultivate a culture of belonging, advancing policies and programs that create a more inclusive workplace and address systemic challenges.
Joy’s leadership is integral to NIDCR’s mission of improving the health and well-being of all Americans. She works to ensure that inclusion is at the forefront of decision-making, workforce development, and public health initiatives. Her efforts not only elevate NIDCR’s internal culture but also influence broader public health strategies.
With a bachelor’s degree in Humanities from the University of Maryland University College and a Diversity and Inclusion certification from Cornell University, Joy is also a certified Equal Employment Opportunity Counselor. With additional leadership development credentials, she continues to be a trailblazer in the DEIA-B space, shaping the future of inclusive health and science.
